The Story

Micky Ward and Dicky Ekdlund are boxer from Lowell city. Dicky was the pride of Lowell because he had been won the game from Sugar Ray Leonard. Unfortunately, his life ruined by drugs, while his brother now trying to built his career in the ring. Dicky became a coach for his brother, thus Micky not yet won big game.

Finally, Dicky was captured by the police because of several violations.  Since his brother in jail, Micky is trained with new coach and manager. His new coach and manager give a condition that Alice (his mother) and Dicky must not take part in Micky’s training. However, when Dicky released from prison, Micky must to fix the situation among him. Micky must solve the problem between his new management and girl friend with his own family. He must do it as soon as possible due to win the world champion.


The Cast

Mark Whalberg cast as Micky Ward, a boxer in the end of his career peak. Mark had successfully role as a man whom never speak much and unable to take decision for himself. The gesture and appearance of Mark Wahlberg also support it.  By the way, mark beef up himself and then he worked it up for this movie. Great job Mark !

We also must give big appreciation to Christian Bale. I thought he played as Dicky with big dedication. I saw the video of the real Micky Ward and Dicky Ekdlund in the end of the movie and Christian act the same as the real Dicky. Christian successfully made the imagination of an athlete that lived in his glorious past.

Conclusion

I think you should watch this movie. Beside the entertaining act, we can learn a lot of life experiences from this movie. Dicky a man that lost all his chance to become a star and he do not want his brother do the same mistake as he is. While Micky always being mocked as a stepping stone but he never give up.

The Movie also teach us about how family and professionalism should be separated. The main problem for Micky was mismanagement in his team. We should not mix personal and professional relation in our work. You will not waste your money for this movie, trust me !

You can’t give up in this game – Micky Ward
